Interesting Facts About Argos

Argos Limited is a British catalogue retailer that operates in the United Kingdom and Ireland. In 2016, Sainsbury's supermarket chain acquired the company. Argos was founded in November 1972 and is named after argos edinburgh the Greek city of the same name. It is headquartered in West London. Here are some interesting facts about the company:

Argos is the UK's largest general merchandise retailer. In 2016, it was purchased by the grocery chain Sainsbury's, which is second in the U.K. The retailer was unable to fulfill online orders from its stores, as many of them varied in size and product range. While some stores stocked key items, lead times were inconsistent and consumers didn't like to wait days for an order to arrive. To improve this situation, Argos began examining their fulfillment networks to find the best way to meet customer expectations.

The satellites themselves are equipped with sensors to gather data on Earth's climate. These sensors are connected to an Argos-certified transmitter called a PTT. The transmitter uses solar energy or batteries to power itself and send short-duration messages to Argos instruments orbiting above Earth. These instruments receive and process the messages, retransmitting them to processing centers. As these instruments pass overhead, they make their sensor data available to the users.

Argos was founded by Argus, son of Zeus and Phoroneus, and named the city after himself. The city was a sacred place for Hera, but the sea god Poseidon dried the land and springs as revenge. The city was also home to Diomedes, one of the most prominent Greek heroes. Homer mentions this city as Diomedes' home town. However, no other Ancient Greek city has been so prominent and influential.
